“25 year old, Mechanical Engineering graduate trying to get in as many first attempts as possible”
Why do you ride?
I ride because it’s like flying on the ground. A plane has 6 degrees of freedom and for the most part, a bicycle does too. It’s also a very intimate interface between the human and the machine. Few vehicles are similar in size and weight to the human body like a bicycle, giving both parties equal “say” in the overall movement of the system. The bicycle itself is is equally fast as it is slow whether bombing a hill or coasting with kids. It is equally isolating as it is inviting in that it is just as easy to ride alone as it is to ride with others. Few things in my life so easily achieve these things. That’s why I ride.
